A few words about us


After 30 years as a dentist, having owned and run a successful practice in Reading, Andy retired from dentistry in 2021.

He has always been passionate about all aspects of food and cooking. He enjoyed cooking for friends and family as well as attending a number of cooking courses and travelling to experience different cuisines, so in 2022 he enrolled on a year’s professional course at the prestigious Leiths School of Food and Wine in London. This was a demanding and challenging course which he enjoyed immensely.

In 2023 Andy was awarded the Leiths Diploma with merit in Food and Wine. This included the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) level 2 qualification which he passed with distinction. He holds certificates in Food Safety and Hygiene (level 3) and Food Allergen Awareness.

He has experience in preparing many styles of food, including British, French, Italian, Thai, Indian and patisserie to a high standard.

On completion of the Leiths course Andy and Helen decided to launch Tierney’s Fine Dining.


 

We provide restaurant quality food in the comfort of your own home. Most of the preparation takes place in my own kitchen, and the finishing touches and plating happen in your kitchen.

We will serve the food to your table then do all the washing up and clean your kitchen, leaving it as we found it.

We do not have set menus - all our dining is bespoke. We will discuss your wishes and agree a menu with you, taking into account your preferences, any allergies or dietary requirements and your budget.

We can provide a section of canapés, starters, main course, dessert and petits fours or any combination you wish.

We can provide wine recommendations to accompany the dishes, leaving you free to order the wines yourself so that you do not have to pay restaurant prices for your wines.

It is important to us that dishes are seasonal and sustainable. Ingredients are sourced locally where possible; some produce is grown in our own garden and we buy as much as possible from local suppliers. Meat is supplied by the excellent Meat Hook of Marlow.

We are a family business - Andy’s wife Helen co-ordinates the bookings, washes, cleans, helps with food prep and keeps Andy under control. You may even see our boys, Conor and Sean helping out from time to time during university holidays.

We are based in Marlow and cover Marlow, Bourne End, Beaconsfield, High Wycombe, Maidenhead, Cookham and surrounding areas.

We have £2,000,000 public liability insurance.
